Alagappa University
found in 1985 as emerged from the galaxy of institutions
initially
founded by the munificent and multifaceted personality,
Dr. R.M.Alagappa
Chettiyar in his home town at Karaikudi and is groomed to prominence as
yet another academic constellation in Tamil Nadu. It is located in
sprawling and ideally suited expanse of about 420 acres in Karaikudi.
The
Directorate of Distance Education (DDE) was established in the
University in 1992. In the year 2001, DDE was revived with the
initiatives of the foresighted Honorable Vice Chancellor
Dr.A.Ramasamy
and expanded itself to new frontiers by the persevering efforts of
Professor.
Dr.S.Sudalaimuthu, then Director and the present Syndicate
Member of the University.
The University has had the unique fortune of having a succession of
eminent Vice-Chancellors to guide its destiny. The Present
Vice-Chancellor
Dr.P.Ramasamy is a renowned academician, and an able
administrator. Under his leadership the University is witnessing a
spectacular growth in teaching, research and extension activities.
The Directorate Distance Education
was established in 1992 at Alagappa
University and from 2001 onwards the development has been steep and the
image of the University transcending to new boundaries and levels. The
just 50+ Courses in various disciplines, the University has been
entrusted by more than 1,00,000 students and consistently has been the
trust of 30000+ every year.
Many programmes are innovative, job oriented and the methodology
inculcates skills and knowledge to enhance employability. The centres
established countrywide and across-border, function as the extended arms
of the University to serve the students with various student support
services effectively under the able guidance and righteous control of
the DDE. |
